In this HTML file, you will find the specific data that you selected for export in ‘My Data’ (also known as “Download Your Data”). Depending on what you selected, this may include your login history, Snap history, Chat history, content shared with My AI, Friends, Spotlight content, purchase history, user profile, location history, and other information. You can browse the different sections by clicking the links on the left. We’ve provided some information to help you understand the data in this file, but contact us if you have any questions.
If you selected the option to export your Memories, Chat Media, or Shared Stories, you can find the media in various folders that are created when you unzip the ‘My Data’ zip file.
If you selected the option to export JSON files, please unzip the ‘My Data’ zip file to locate your JSON files within the designated folder.
We try to make sure your newest information is in Download My Data, but sometimes there’s a delay before we can include it. If you think some information — like recent Chat or Snap history — is missing, try downloading your data again in a day or two. If you still don’t see it and the information here doesn’t answer your questions, contact us!
If a section is missing from this HTML file, it means you either have no data available for that section or you did not select the specific section in the option under ‘Select data to include’ when you requested a copy of your data.
Keep in mind that we store different types of information for different periods of time. That means that you may not be able to access all the information that was collected since you first became a Snapchatter, either in Download My Data or in-App. Also, the types of information that we collect, store, and retain may change over time, as we add and remove certain features. For more information on how long we retain information about you, please see the “How Long We Keep Your Information” section of our Privacy Policy.
Check out our Support page for more information on when we delete Snaps and Chats.
In addition to what you can see in your HTML file and the various media folders (based on your Media Export selections), you can view certain account information in the Snapchat app, including your name, username, birthday, mobile number, email, Snapscore, Snapchatters you've blocked, Memories, Bitmoji, Snapcode, your orders (like custom Filters and Lenses), and information about Spectacles. For the latest information on how long we store different types of content, check out this support article.
Control over your information and settings is a core part of the Snapchat experience. If you are here, you have used our Download My Data tool to see the types of information we store about you. We also offer other tools to access, update, and delete your information (and much more), which are further described in our Privacy Policy under the “Control Over Your Information” section.
When we share information, it’s usually because you ask us to — like when you want to post to Spotlight or send a Chat to a friend — or because we need to share your information to provide our services or comply with the law. For more detail about our information sharing, please see the “How We Share Information” section of our Privacy Policy.
You can review our Privacy Policy and U.S. State Privacy Notice to better understand the categories of information we collect. Download your data for the specifics!
